Haackey D2 – CHAMPIONS!
Flevoland 2 – Haackey 2.
WHAT A GAME!

# 1 in the competition v the # 2. A more exciting end of the season you could not possibly imagine. A gelijke uitslag was required for D2 to become Champions for the 2nd year in a row.
Flevoland began the game with full on attacking play hoping to achieve an early goal, this tactic worked, and very quickly Haackey stood 1-0 behind. Shortly after Flevoland scored again, 2-0. At this point D2 pulled up their hockey socks and began the re-offensive that would eventually end in the desired result.
The Haackey Travelling Supporters (Mums, Dads, Children, Friends, Bestuur, Partners, Non-playing D2 squad members, Bus driver, MD1, MD2, JC1, H1, JA and dogs) were fantastic. If the residents of Dronte were anticipating a quiet Sunday afternoon they were sadly mistaken!
Haackey launched the attacking actions from some seriously impressive play by the defensive line, building the game through the mid-field and playing the ball into space for the voor-in spelers to collect. Their efforts were rewarded by a goal from Jolien Wissink.
At the break the score was 2 – 1 and both teams went to the changing rooms in order to gain respite from the unseasonably hot weather and humid conditions. Haackey focused themselves and lined up for the start of the 2nd half with renewed ambitions.
Again, Flevoland attacked hard but could find no hole in our defense. Yonca Ersoy, the Haackey Keeper, played well, making some unbelievable saves. The game was strongly fought and went backwards and forwards with both teams having chances to score but unable to convert. Frustrations were high but both umpires expertly controlled the game.
4 minutes before final time Haackey were awarded a penalty corner which was converted into a goal by Kirsten Diepenmaat. She hammered the ball home! It went high into the right corner of the net via the stick of the line stopper from Flevoland. There were protests from Flevoland but after a discussion by the umpires the goal was allowed, and rightly so! 2 – 2.
In the dying seconds of the game Flevoland were awarded a penalty corner. This would be the deciding play of the game and the Championship. The tension on and off the field was unbearable. Haackey defended well and cleared the ball to the sideline. The final whistle was blown and the celebrations began!
All the Ladies of D2 played an outstanding game and it would not be fair to name one player over another with regard to presentation. Flevoland were gracious in their congratulations and wonderful hosts. The Haackey Travelling Supporters were Awesome!
There was one person who was not so impressed by the Haackey D2 result. Lieke, (daughter of Kirsten) but as you all say in Nederland “Dat Mag” :O)
